Listen to Metasota's Latest Songs in his MetaMay Series

Metasota has persistently stuck with his MetaMay series, and fought through various roadblocks to continue giving us one song per day for the entire month. I've done a poor job of posting his songs as they've been released, but you can hit the jump below to catch the six most recent songs in the series (previous songs can be found here and at Meta's Soundcloud). This latest batch of songs features production by Nicademus, Mike the Martyr, Bobby Raps and more, while Toki Wright, Lizzo and Greg Grease come through for some guest appearances.

Listen to the 5 Latest Songs in Metasota's MetaMay Series

When I last posted about MetaMay, we were only 2 songs deep in the series. Since then, Meta's blessed us with 5 new songs and shows no signs of relenting. In the latest batch, we've got production from Big Cats!, Tek, Cory Grindberg, and more. Additionally, the song from May 3rd, "Robb Stark," gives us the second local song of the year with a Game of Thrones reference (Guante & Big Cats! provided the first). Stream all the MetaMay songs below.

Metasota: "Just Junior" + "P.I.G."

Local rapper Metasota has been tweeting for a while about an idea of his called MetaMay. The idea is simple: release one song per day for the entire month of May. Several rappers are known for being incredibly prolific, but this level of productivity is something that many local rappers have not attempted. It will be interesting to see how the month plays out. At the time I'm writing this post (late Wednesday night), Meta is already 2 songs deep in the series, and we're off to a good start. You can stream "Just Junior" and "P.I.G." (produced by Double Helix) below.

WagOutParty.com Presents: Wag Out! The Mixtape

To say Minneapolis' Wag movement is starting to reach any sort of niche cultural significance would be selling it short. Franz Diego is hosting multiple parties per month at Minneapolis venues. The term is reliably blowing up on my Twitter timeline. And now, WagOutParty.com is releasing a free mixtape featuring music from all sorts of artists associated with the Wag scene: Illuminous 3, Greg Grease, The Usual SuspectS, P.O.S., Mike Mictlan, Spyder Baybie Raw Dog, Lizzo, Yakub, Audio Perm, Mike Frey and more. Hit the jump to see the entire tracklist and download the free mixtape.

Sound of the City 8 (Compilation Mixtape)

Another month, another Sound of the City mixtape, courtesy of 4Seen Magazine and Big Ten Entertainment. This one features contributions from Franz Diego, Metasota, I Self Devine, Akrite, Mike Dreams, MaLLy, Ceewhy, Greg Grease, Mike the Martyr and more. Stream or download it after the jump.

Metasota: "Solo Cypher" (Music Video)

The last few weeks have seen a flood of smoker's anthems be released from local artists. First came Anchormen's "Smoke Too Much," next was Akrite's "Burnin' and Learnin'," and finally I.B.E.'s "AlwaysOnIt" came out yesterday. Now Metasota is continuing that trend with the video for "Solo Cypher," from H.I.P. (Happy I'm Present: 2 Week Theory). The video was directed by Abhinav Saihgal.

Sound of the City 7 (Compilation Mixtape)

Last month I shared the Sound of the City 6 compilation mixtape. This month, 4Seen Magazine is back to present another collection of recent Minnesota-made hip-hop. Included in this mix are Metasota, Bobby Raps, Brother Ali, Franz Diego, Mike Dreams, Mike the Martyr, the Tribe & Big Cats!, MaLLy, and more. Stream/download the project after the jump.

Gordon Bombay: "Jungle ft. Metasota"

Gordon Bombay is a group consisting of local emcee MOD SUN, and Pat Brown, B Rolla, JCW, and Zachy G, who I assume are other artists who run in his circle. Today they released a new track featuring Metasota, whose 2012 release H.I.P. (Happy I'm Present: 2 Week Theory) is one of the local highlights of the year so far. Check out "Jungle" below, and stream the rest of Gordon Bombay's Unburstable Bubble here.

Metasota: H.I.P. (Happy I'm Present: 2 Week Theory)

Metasota is currently prepping his upcoming album, There's Something About Larry. In the meantime, check out the 9-track project H.I.P. (Happy I'm Present: 2 Week Theory). Most songs were mixed by Mod Sun, while Cory Grindberg and Mike Frey, among others, get production credits. Stream it after the jump.
