The Tribe & Big Cats: 'Space' (Review)
For the past two years, each time the Tribe and Big Cats release a new album I declare it “their best work yet.” That trend continues with Space, which came out on July 10 and is available for free download. On Space we find TTxBC taking progressive artistic strides that show their evolution as a group. Unlike FTMS (which was good) and Make Good (which was even better), Space eschews any significant contributions from other artists. Leaving this one up solely to Truth Be Told and Big Cats (this is their first full-length since Pete left the group) is rewarding. As a whole, the album holds up very well sonically and thematically, as Space is their most focused effort yet.

The Tribe & Big Cats!: "Drive" (Music Video)
Here is the official music video for "Drive" by The Tribe & Big Cats!. The video borrows from what looks to be 80s action flicks, and it fits the mood of the song quite well. TTxBC's excellent Make Good EP, which is still getting repeated listens, is available now.

The Tribe & Big Cats!: Daytrotter Session
Last year, the Tribe & Big Cats! stopped into the Daytrotter studio for a quick session and played some material from Make Good and Forward Thinkers, Movers, Shakers. Props to Egypto for putting me on to this. Hit the link below to check it out.

The Tribe & Big Cats!: Make Good EP
I've said it before and I'll probably say it again: Make Good marks the best music the Tribe & Big Cats! have put out as a group yet. It also ranks among my favorite local releases of 2011. Stream it below, and buy it for $5 at their Bandcamp site.

The flyer above is all that's actually necessary for this post, but allow me a brief moment to help announce the Audio Perm Block Party. The event will take place on Saturday, August 27 at Shuga Records in Northeast Minneapolis. The lineup is basically a can't miss assortment of rising and established local artists, including Toki Wright, I Self Devine, Audio Perm themselves, Kanser, The Tribe & Big Cats!, and more. The California trio Pac Div are headlining. It costs $10 to buy an advanced ticket, and $15 if you show up the day of the show. All signs point to this being a terrific day; you'd be wise not to miss it.You can RSVP to the event on Facebook, and follow its associated Twitter account here. The Tribe & Big Cats: "Stay High ft. Pat Brown" (Music Video)
Here's part two in the four-part Make Good series from The Tribe & Big Cats!. "Stay High" is a party song, The Tribe know it and don't pretend that its anything more. The video is ridiculous, and in my humble opinion no one in the local scene is fucking with Pete's hair right now. Yeah guys, you can use that in a pull quote.

The Tribe & Big Cats!: "Shotgun Willie Flow"
The Tribe and Big Cats! have been laboriously plugging away in the studio on their upcoming full-length Forward Thinkers Movers Shakers. That's why we haven't heard much from them since their tremendously enjoyable Let's Be Professional mixtape. But as we all know, they're friendly fellows, and decided it's time to put out something for free to appease their rabid fan base. So, they hit the studio and made a song in two hours with only live instruments, disregarding the siren and airhorn, because, you know, you gotta have that airhorn. Enjoy. The Tribe & Big Cats!: "Shotgun Willie Flow"
As for Forward Thinkers Movers Shakers, The Tribe & Big Cats! recruited a very impressive guest list for the album. Artists making cameos on the album include: Toki Wright, Abstract Rude, Planet Asia, Phil Da Agony, Brandon Allday, Mally, and more. Hot damn! The release date is January 25, 2011.

The Tribe & Big Cats!: The Let's Be Professional Mixtape
The Tribe & Big Cats! collaborated for one of 2009's diamonds in the rough, their Supply and Demand EP. Just under one full year later, the three midwest artists have returned to share their latest joint project with us, The Let's Be Professional Mixtape, and Pwelbs and myself are here to present it to you.If their EP was any indication of what's in store for us this time around, expect traditionally lush production from Big Cats! and DJ Pete and honest, reflective lyricism from Truth Be Told. And, of course, unprecedented levels of professionalism. The mixtape also boasts guest appearances from Franz Diego, Guante, Chantz Erolin, and Big Zach. It will serve as an appetizer for their full-length release, Forward Thinkers, Movers, Shakers, which is due out in the summer of 2010. Enjoy!

The Tribe and Big Cats!: Supply and Demand EP
I'm gonna hand in my late pass for the last time on this post. I received this EP before I left for Spring Break but didn't want to drop it on MWB until the official release date, which was a few days ago now. The Tribe are a two-man duo (emcee Truth Be Told and DJ Pete) hailing from Menomonie, Wisconsin and Minneapolis, while Minneapolis producer Big Cats! is one of the illest artists doing it in Minnesota right now. They recently teamed up to create a free-download Supply and Demand EP, which can be downloaded below. Don't sleep on these guys. The Tribe and Big Cats!: Supply and Demand EP
