A couple of unexpected obstacles have gotten in the way of the imminent release of Flyover Land, Vol. 1. However, I can say that the finishing touches are being completed, practically as we speak, and the mixtape will be released on Thursday, May 21. In the meantime, though, this delay allowed me to continue promoting the project with additional leaks. Yesterday, I made a low budget slideshow promoting Flyover Land, Vol. 1, as well as world premiering part of the unreleased Heiruspecs song on the mixtape, "Same Thing."

Now, I'm sending out my last leak from the project, the previously unreleased track "Yes Sir," by Muja Messiah of Minneapolis. This Che Vicious produced track features Muja rapping uninterrupted for nearly 3 minutes — no hooks, just his characteristic street-smart lyricism, complete with drug, economics, and government-related punchlines. Flyover Land Promo Video + Heiruspecs "Same Thing" Snippet

I'm not too savvy with the whole video editing process, but I put together a quick slideshow promoting the upcoming Flyover Land mixtape, which will be released this week. Things have been crazy lately, and I'm just putting the final touches on the project, but it's basically ready right now.

I also made the video to leak the Heiruspecs song on the mixtape, "Same Thing." Twinkie Jiggles was kind enough to cooperate with me for the project. He let me have "Same Thing," which was a track that the band recorded for their latest album, but didn't make the final cut. Midwest Broadcast world premier!

Well folks, it's time for another leak for the upcoming Midwest Broadcast mixtape, Flyover Land, Vol. 1. That's right, the artist feedback for the mixtape was so great that I was forced to release it in two volumes. I'll be releasing the official tracklist either tomorrow or Thursday, so get ready, you're in for a treat.

In the meantime, how about a little Add-2 to tide you over? The Chicago rapper graciously obliged my request to submit a track for the mixtape, and even brought along a few of his friends for the ride, Neak and Sincerely Yours. St. Paul Slim: "Is THIS Mic ON?!"

So Slim sent this through to me the other day, as both a promo track for his upcoming release Recession Music and for the Midwest Broadcast mixtape, Flyover Land. I was gonna hold off on posting it for a little longer, but a couple tricky bloggers (I'm looking at you, Jon Jon and Pwelbs!) got their hands on the song as well. I figured it can't hurt to throw the track up. Artists are sending me their final submissions for the mixtape, and things are looking good. However, there might be a significant delay in posts over the weekend, as it's the Mifflin Street Block Party here in Madison. Uh oh.

It's finally time to leak the first track from Midwest Broadcast's debut mixtape, which will be titled Flyover Land. After receiving a handful of track submissions in the past three days alone, it was a tough decision picking which song to use for the first promo single. However, Knonam's bouncy, techno-sampling "Crazy Minnesota Girl" seemed like the right choice. It represents for my home state, was one of the songs I've been sitting on for the longest, and has recently been posted up on Knonam's Myspace for everyone to see. Flyover Land, putting the spotlight on a plethora of the Midwest's dopest artists, will be available for free download on Midwest Broadcast sooner than you know.
