Krukid: "U.G. Chillin"

Krukid goes in over some Wale/Gaga. Remember that A.R.M. is coming out with Two Africans and a Jew, Vol. 1 May 11, and they'll be performing at Soundset 2010 on May 30.

Krukid: "Soundset Theme Song" (Video)

Krukid put together an unofficial Soundset theme song, which I just spotted at the official Soundset blog. Speaking of which, City Pages just named Soundset the best Twin Cities music festival. Anyway, you should all know that Krukid is no slouch lyrically, so this playful track is chock full of clever punchlines. While Krukid is just one-third of the mighty A.R.M., his rhyming partner M.anifest makes an appearance in a bonus video below to hype up their debut EP, Two Africans and a Jew.

Krukid: "It's Cold" + Snow Angel EP

Krukid, one-third of indie supergroup A.R.M., recently sent this new music my way to share with you. This particular track, produced by Minneapolis wunderkind G Mo, is part of Krukid's 7-song Snow Angel EP, which can be downloaded at his Bandcamp site.

Noon (Budo and Krukid): 6AM Redux (Limited Time Free EP Download)

Krukid and Budo collaborated on this neat little project, and who better to explain it than Budo himself? He says:
Krukid and I (who, along with M.anifest make up the mighty A.R.M.) are proud to present our first ever collaborative project, entitled Noon. This 6 song EP was conceptualized as an "off the cuff" experiment...I sat down and fashioned the instrumentals during a 6 hour period, and Kruk executed the lyrical side of things at a similar break-neck pace. What came out is raw, roughly mixed, poorly mastered, full of energy, love, anger, pain, and joy. We wanted to give this to you as a gift, and also to put it out just as it came to us. No polish, no gimmicks...just dope music. We'll be offering this for free for a couple weeks before transitioning to a full iTunes digital release, so feel free to pass this link along, tweet it, facebook it, hire a biplane to skyrwrite the URL, etc to anyone that you think might be interested.

We're grateful for all of you.

Krukid: "David Hasselhoff"

Just woke up and got this new Krukid jam in the inbox; solid start to the weekend, I'd say. This humorous track is off an upcoming mixtape, to be titled The Broadcast.

Homegrown Hip-Hop Festival (Madison, WI)

Starting tomorrow and lasting throughout the weekend, the University of Wisconsin - Madison is hosting the second annual Homegrown Hip-Hop Festival. If you read this blog and are going to be around campus this weekend, I suggest you hit it up. Here's the lineup:
Thursday, November 6
Student Union - Great Hall, 7PM - Midnight
Doomtree (Headliner)
I Self Devine
Big Quarters
Muja Messiah
Chosen Few
Defcee

Friday, November 7
Tripp Commons, 8PM - 11PM
OMAI presents Just Bust A Move! Open Mic Night

Saturday, November 8
Student Union - Great Hall, 6PM - Midnight
Kid Sister (Headliner)
Yea Big & Kid Static
Tru Ruts Crew
Fall Guys
Krukid
Kid Cut Up
Quest McCody
Hyder Ali
As you can see, there will be plenty of dope artists from Minneapolis, Chicago, and various other areas throughout the Midwest. Midwest hip-hop is holding it down right now! I'll likely be there both nights, so be on the lookout for some foolish-looking college undergrad with a camera. It might be me.

Krukid: "Swagger Lockdown (A Voting PSA)

Krukid of A.R.M. dropped a single combining two beats of the moment, "Swagger Like Us" and "Love Lockdown," to drop some political knowledge for us. Nice timing, right in the wake of presidential debate #2. My favorite part of the debate was when McCain was quoted as saying, "We're not rifle shots, we're Americans." What the fuck does that even mean?

Introducing A.R.M. (M.anifest, Krukid, Budo)

What a terrific day. Sun, nice weather, bumpin' that new Muja, and now I come home and see this in the inbox. Ghana native and Minneapolis rapper M.anifest is officially the homie, he sent word over about this new project he's a part of. And you need to check this out.

A.R.M. is apparently a trio, composed of M.anifest, Ugandan emcee Krukid, and Seattle producer Budo. A.R.M. is an acronym for African Rebel Movement, and I'll be the first to admit that if these first two promo singles are any indication, they are making some seriously dope music. These guys have also been grinding for a while, it seems. Krukid has got a couple solo albums out that I'm definitely investigating, Budo is killing the production on these couple tracks, and us Minnesotans already know about M.anifest. Download the songs, pass them on to your friends, and keep promoting good music. I'm peacin' out to enjoy the night now. One hundred.
