Audio Perm Announces Permed Out Showcase #2 (Video)

This summer Audio Perm are upgrading venues for the second Permed Out Showcase. This one will be held on June 29 at The Cabooze and will feature MetaSota and Jason Anxious in addition to the entire AP crew. Below you can find some more words from AP's own Taylor Madrigal as well as the event flyer.

Audio Perm is taking over The Cabooze for the 2nd installment in their "Permed Out Showcase" series. The purpose of the series is to showcase the vocalists/m.c.'s who frequently collaborate with the group, and to bring more attention to them as solo artists. The emcees (80H20, Akrite, Bobby Raps, Chantz Erolin, Dylan LP, Ramiro X, Unfuh Qwittable, Yakub) are the driving force behind the live performance aspect of Audio Perm. The first Permed Out Showcase (Honey NE, 12/20/11) was sold out soon after doors opened, with lines out the door and around the block (Photos). Audio Perm decided a larger venue was needed for the next show, and found a more suitable home at The Cabooze.

WagOutParty.com Presents: Wag Out! The Mixtape

To say Minneapolis' Wag movement is starting to reach any sort of niche cultural significance would be selling it short. Franz Diego is hosting multiple parties per month at Minneapolis venues. The term is reliably blowing up on my Twitter timeline. And now, WagOutParty.com is releasing a free mixtape featuring music from all sorts of artists associated with the Wag scene: Illuminous 3, Greg Grease, The Usual SuspectS, P.O.S., Mike Mictlan, Spyder Baybie Raw Dog, Lizzo, Yakub, Audio Perm, Mike Frey and more. Audio Perm: Permed Out Wednesdays

Back in the winter of 2010, Audio Perm were releasing weekly songs with rappers from around the Twin Cities. Their Permed Out Wednesdays series helped the production crew gain much of the local notoriety that they have today, but many of the download links for those songs have expired over time. The crew, being the generous group that they are, re-uploaded the whole collection to their Soundcloud page, and all thirteen songs are now available for download/streaming. Oh, and that local notoriety I mentioned? Well, Audio Perm earned a spot at this year's Soundset. They'll be performing on the Fifth Element stage. Big congratulations to the trio for that accomplishment.

I haven't been doing a thorough job of documenting this, but Franz Diego's "Waggin On The Scene" has been remixed by several prominent local rappers and producers. Each member of Audio Perm recently threw their hat in the ring as well. Audio Perm Block Party - Saturday August 27

The flyer above is all that's actually necessary for this post, but allow me a brief moment to help announce the Audio Perm Block Party. The event will take place on Saturday, August 27 at Shuga Records in Northeast Minneapolis. The lineup is basically a can't miss assortment of rising and established local artists, including Toki Wright, I Self Devine, Audio Perm themselves, Kanser, The Tribe & Big Cats!, and more. The California trio Pac Div are headlining. It costs $10 to buy an advanced ticket, and $15 if you show up the day of the show. All signs point to this being a terrific day; you'd be wise not to miss it.
